I have had a red watering right eye for the last 5 days. Met a doctor who confirmed it to be viral conjunctivitis.
How does one get it or avoid it? How contagious is it? Can the swimming pool get me infected? How long would it take to go away? Are there any anti viral drugs I can take. What all can I do to speed up recovery? Are there any possible complications ? My right eye is still safe... What do I do to keep it that way.

Be patient....viral conjunctivitis may take 1 - 2 weeks to suside. Practice hand washing and use hand Sterilizer at home....do not share ur clothes like towels with others and wash dem separate.no hand shakes. It may involve cornea sometimes so needs close watch every 3 days.it can come by swimming pool.avoid it for a week.use goggles later.above all trust ur treating ophthalmologist and follow the instructions properly ...Thank you
