My mother( is suffering from common variable immunodeficiency(CVID) and in the year 2021 we consulted pediatric immunlogist and got to know about this CVID. Doctor suggested her to take IVIG every month but my mother gets severe side effects( likesudden heart beat increases, chills, vomiting) during and after the IVIG process and becomes very tired. So however we are managing her to give every 3months once but nowadays the side effects has become more and more that she is not at taking IVIG.Every 3 months it has become very tough for us to convince her. Please are there any other medicines or tablets for this CVID
Also she doesn't have any other health problems

Hi, I am Dr. Atul Kumar Nimawat.
IVIG is the standard treatment for CVID, but in patients with severe side effects, options like SCIG (subcutaneous immunoglobulin) may be better tolerated with fewer systemic reactions. Tablet-based alternatives are not effective replacements for immunoglobulin therapy. Pre-medications (antihistamines, steroids) and slower infusion rates can also help reduce IVIG side effects.
Next Steps
Please consult your immunologist to discuss switching to SCIG or modifying the current regimen.
