Cola colour urine
I’ve noticed that after gym workouts, especially leg or core workouts, my urine sometimes turns cola-coloured (dark brown). Could this be due to dehydration, or is it something I should be concerned about? This happened 2-3times before during summer, and now it’s happening again in October. I had consulted a doctor last time, but my urine culture report was normal.

Cola-coloured urine after intense leg or core workouts is usually from myoglobin leaking out of overworked muscle fibres (exertional rhabdomyolysis) or, less often, blood from exercise-induced bladder trauma. Dehydration makes both more likely. A normal urine culture already rules out infection as the cause.
Next Steps
Drink extra water before and after hard leg or core sessions, and ease up on workout intensity or duration for a few days. If it recurs, ask your doctor for a urine dipstick plus a CPK (muscle enzyme) blood test done soon after a session, which will confirm whether muscle breakdown is behind it.
Health Tips
See a doctor urgently if you also get muscle swelling, severe pain, very reduced urine output, or the colour doesn't clear within a day or two.
