Asked for Female, 53 Years

My father has been diagnosed with cml-cp. I have read about a lot of patients and mostly patients are taking imatinib 400mg but doctor has recommended dasatinib 100mg to my father. Why dasatinib is preferred over imatinib and does this drug is equally effective or cause any bad effect on health. Currently my father has no other health issue and taking up dasatinib from 15 days and it is working. But why it is chosen and is it equally effective or will it cause any bad side effects?

This requires all investigation including BCR ABL report if imatinib is not responding then patient can switch to Dasatinib but the side effect are more like pleural effusion and cytopenia etc
