One psychiatrist has prescribed in addition to Tricita (which my son is having for the last 20 days) , Flunil tablets as well. I have seen on web that both the tablets addresses issues of Depression and Anxiety. Is it advisable for my don to come out of a cocoon and socialise like normal guys.

Both the drugs can be used for depression and anxiety issues. It will take tine for your son to socialise normally but definitely he will be able to do it with proper treatment, Councilling , therapy sessions. Process takes time keep patience.
Both tricita and Flunil are antidepressants and belong to same class SSRIs. Usually it is wise to start with an antidepressant wait for 2-3 weeks of there is improvement to increase the dose to optimal dose till symptoms resolve. If it does not work in 2-3 weeks an alternative antidepressant from a different class is selected. Only if 2 different groups do not work, the combinations are tried and that too from different classes and not the same. So I suggest you to get a second opinion from an astute psychiatrist. Good luck
Yes tricita and flunil are used for anxiety and depression. However we will never know the exact symptoms untill full history is available. Please talk to your son or accompany him to the psychiatrist next time to clear all your doubts regarding his treatment.
I understand you are concerned about your son but It is not easy to start socialising “like normal guys” as you are saying if your son is having social anxiety/depression or other such issues. He needs your support first in terms of acceptance, try to understand and accept what he is going through. He will get better and come out of it himself with the help of his doctor. just stand by him and support him how much ever long it takes.
Yes your son will overcome the issue of depression and anxiety. If you are not satisfied with treatment, then you can consult any other psychiatrist however it is advisable to give the treatment some time.
