Chipped tooth
A month back my tooth got chipped and i recently contacted a dentist nearby got examined as im having problem eating cold foods like icecream. They examined by keeing some cold spay sprayed on cotton plcing on chipped tooth. They took an xray and at first prescribed pulpotomy and again before starting pulpotomy they asked for retake another xray and now they are prescribing rootcanal .but at that instant i have short of time so got filled with some composite now able to eat cold things like ice water but a little sensitivity for icecream. When tapping teeth with finger at the bottom with some impact a little sensation is there on fractured tooth now. Is root canal compulsory required?

Hello sir ....kindly get an x ray of the tooth that will confirm whether a root canal is required or not...If I is a mild sensitivity you can avoid root canal and crown but if it turns to pain you have to go do root canal and crown. You can practo consult us regarding same via phone call.Regards.

Hi dear... If tooth gets chipped due to impact on it, requirement of Root canal treatment depends on whether the pulp gets involved or not. As per your complaint and pic you provided, the best treatment is to build up the broken part with composite (which you already got it done) and wait. Sometimes the tooth may recover and may not require root canal treatment. Get check ups and xrays done every month just to be sure if the tooth is OK. In case any changes are evident, you will require root canal treatment and an emax crown.
Next Steps
Avoid biting hard things from treated tooth
Health Tips
Visit your dentist for regular check ups

The best definitive treatment would be a root canal treatment along with a crown.Go for metal-free crown or zirconia crown.

If you are comfortable now , you can wait and let the tooth be under observation. If the tooth starts paining or you get a swelling on the gums or tooth starts getting discoloured,  you will require a root canal.
Next Steps
Even if there are no symptoms you should go for a check up and x ray regularly. Then let the dentist decide if you need a root canal.
Health Tips
Avoid biting anything hard with that front tooth.
