Child not speaking words

Asked for Female, 1 Years

My Daughter has just turned 22 months and there are no signs of speaking words as yet. She plays on bed and on floor and sometimes looks at pictures in her rhymes book while at other times, watches rhymes on TV/Phone. She eats all her meals well. What is the normal age at which a child starts uttering words?

Well,normally,kids should speak 3 meaningful words at 1 year of age,and 3 word sentences at 2 years. BUT there's wide variation in this. For normal speech,normal HEARING is mandatory. If your child speaks 2-3 meaningful words,you can wait,otherwise,consult your paediatrician.
