No need to check everyday it does not weigh much importance if your not diabetic.
If you are diabetic then you should be watchful about your symptoms if there is any change in your diet or increased intake of sweets. In that case you will need to monitor sugar levels closely.

For patients on oral medications or oral medications and basal insulin, Fasting and post meal 2 hours blood sugar once in a week suffices
For patients on insulin basal bolus, 6 times (all premeal and post meals) is advisable.
4 times charting (all premeals and post dinner) might be okay too. In addition once a week 2 am blood sugar is to be done.
For 5 days fasting and 2 hrs after Breakfast lunch and dinner to make a chart to know pattern of diet affects sugar levels. Thereafter once a week or day when you try to pamper yourself with high sugar diet
