Cervical stitches
I had my NT scan on 12w2d and the cervical length was shown as 31.00mm. My doctor advised me to do stitches to prevent risk. This is my 1st pregnancy and no past history. Mine is Ivf conception. Does cervical length reduce also after stitches? Will there be any impact on my baby due to anaesthesia?

1. *Does cervical length reduce after stitches (cervical cerclage)?* Cervical cerclage is placed to prevent the cervix from shortening or opening prematurely. After the stitch, the cervical length usually *remains stable* or may slightly increase because the procedure supports the cervix and reduces further shortening. Some women may still experience gradual shortening despite the stitch, which is why follow‑up scans are done. 2. *Will there be any impact on my baby due to anaesthesia used during the procedure?* The anaesthesia used for cervical cerclage is typically *local or regional* (e.g., spinal/epidural), which has minimal systemic effect on the fetus.

Hi ya as it is ivf conception and the length is just adequate to be on safer side better go for it ,and the anesthesia given generally doesn't harm the baby as such
