This symptom can have multiple reasons
It could be as simple as wisdom tooth erruption discomfort or could be due to the cavity in the second molar.
Visit a nearby clinician to rule out possibilities and diagnose properly....x-ray may be recommended
Root canal is a procedure in which the nerves of the teeth are removed and replaced with artificial nerves. Later the tooth is crowned with a cap.
Composite is the best
It will not be painful.
These days dentistry has advanced and pain is minimal

Dear practo user
Consult your dentist at the earliest, before it's too late. It might just be a cavity that needs a simple filling, looks like that from the picture. An x-ray will show exactly what the problem is.
If you needlessly procrastinate, certainly it will go for root canal treatment and if you still neglect further, it will go for extraction. Don't worry about pain, because your dentist will take care of that.
Next Steps
consult your dentist at the earliest
Health Tips
avoid sticky foods, very hot or cold foods. brush and rinse well to avoid food lodgement
Hi..Root can treatment you can understand as deep cavity cleaning and filling it deep to save that tooth. The treatment is not painful nowdays, thanks to advanced dentistry and anaesthesia.
If it is not deep, then a simple filling will work for you
Next Steps
See a Dentist and get the X-ray done
Health Tips
Avoid eating or drinking anything too cold or hot from that side
I would suggest you for x ray of that tooth...if it's close to pulp then root canal is advised.but if it has not reached pulp then only filling will suffice. Aa per filling in your case a base of GIC followed by composite will b best.and if x ray shows that root canal of teeth is required u dont have to worry at all as procedures are done under local anesthesia which is almost painless procedure.
Next Steps
advice x ray if that tooth
Health Tips
avoid eating from that side till any treatment is done on that tooth.keep area clean.avoid food impaction
Please elaborate more on symptoms . If don’t have pain a filling will suffice. Don’t get scared of dental procedures it is not very painful may it be a root canal or a filling.
There is definite decay in your second last tooth . I would recommend you to visit a dentist and get an xray done for this tooth . If the decay is shallow a filling ie a restoration should suffice . If the decay is deep you will need a root canal treatment .
Root canal treatment is done when the decay has reached the pulp . In this the pulp ie the nerve tissue is removed and canal is cleaned and shaped and filled with a filling material . It is then followed with a crown to protect the tooth and increase its life.
There is no need to worry as all procedures are done without causing any pain or discomfort .
Next Steps
Visit Dentist
Advise Xray
Health Tips
Dental treatment has evolved leaps and bounds . All treatment are done without causing pain and discomfort to the patient .
