Hello, I've heard that CBT almost always benign tumor, I just wanted to ask, can I ignore it then? Can I let it as is, since it's not causing any symptoms, or should I undergo surgery and remove it Appreciate your time

Carotid body tumors are rare and generally not life-threatening, but they can grow and press on nearby nerves and blood vessels.

Next Steps

The treatment of choice for carotid body tumor is surgical resection. Pre-operative adrenergic blockade should be considered and due to the high vascularity of these tumors pre-operative embolization is prudent. Overall prognosis is quite good with complete surgical resection
