Hello
Caries detector dye will only detect the remaining caries or cavity in the truth but no it cannot replace the x-ray of the truth. As you said if you have pain while eating cold and Sweet in the tooth which is filled that means there might be some infection underlying for that x ray needs to be done for a proper diagnosis and treatment
Next Steps
Kindly visit your dentist and get the tooth checked and treated properly properly

Hi,
To check the depth of the cavity iopars or xrays are important. Since you are complaining of sensitivity it's better to get one xray done of the tooth to gauge the depth of the cavity and also whether the filling present is intact or not and accordingly get it replaced or repaired. Timely management of the same will prevent any future problems.
Caries detector dyes are more of a diagnostic aid. They can be useful in differentiating infected and healthy teeth, but cannot replace xrays.
Hi sir,
Xray gives correct and approximate depth of caries whether itz near pulp or in dentin.. Well once itz diagnosed then the treatment is planned accordingly.. If pain is present n sensitivity to sweet.cold hot.. . It has reached pulp we call it secondary caries.. Well better start with initially with antibiotics n analgesics to stop further infection n pain.. N immediately visiting to dental doctor for RCT.. To save the tooth.
Next Steps
Start antibiotic n analgesic
Visit to a doctor for further treatment n investigation....
