Yes enlarged heart can be seen on a chest X-ray but more specifically for cardiomyopathy u need to get a 2D echocardiography done ..

Yas crdiomegaly can be seen in a chest x-ray.
But you need more test's to diagnose wether the enlightenment is because of cardiomyopathy or something else.
There are many reasons for cardiomegaly.
