It is ok to give ginger to your five year old .but in small amounts as it is hot and temperature is also rising rapidly these days.
About hot and sour soups , you should serve her only home cooked ones .
Preservatives in readymade soups are not recommended for children below seven.
Yes ginger can be given as its hot & drying in nature which is why it help in Digesting Fats & Mucus. Children usually r Kapha bodytype (Prakruti), so Ginger helps but in small quantity. Its good in Cough, cold, fever etc.
But if your child is having Pitta (Heat) bodytype, burning sensation, lots of sweat, rashes, Hard stools etc then Ginger shd not be given as it wld exaggerate these issues.
