Can my son be given Vit A syrup
My son has had cough for the past 4 weeks. Initially, the cough was dry, he had mucous in his lungs and a mild collapsed lung. After lots of medicines and taking mucous nebulization, his cough reduced and his cough changed to wet cough. Now, he is taking only vitamin supplements, that is, Becosules syrup for 1 month, and vitamin d syrup once a week. The government in our state has mandated that every child under 60 months be given vitamin A oral syrup in school. So can my son be given the Vitamin A syrup?

usually vitamin A deficiency can occur in children if the diet is not proper. in maintenance dosage it is usually given at the end of 9 months and then at the end of 15 months and then between 4 years to 5 years of age and usually given along with mmr vaccination. in between any extra dosage is required or not will be decided by the doctor. 6 month repeat dose is given to malnourished children. Minimum 3 dose till 5 years is also enough. Can give 50000 tab Vitamin A after crushing x 4 tab.
