Hello,
I have been suffering with grave hyperthyroid and atrial fibrillation.
Can i take normal iodized salt in food ?
Or should I replace iodized salt with rock salt completely. Will there be iodine deficiency if i take rock salt in food.

Hi
The thyroid hormone production in the body involves the use of iodine.
In Graves’ disease the thyroid hormone production is already high and therefore consuming more iodine rich foods may prevent the treatment from controlling the hyperthyroidism hence it is better to avoid iodised salt and foods rich in iodine like salt water fish, egg yolks, diary products.
