My wife has diagnosed with Calcaneal Spur by one of local Ortho Surgeon, through X Ray view. He's recommending to get injection at the hill (pain area) to treat.
Please suggest if there is any alternate but permanent heal for pain. It is growing unbearable as days pass.

Hello ,
It appears ur wife is suffering from plantar fascitis . Intralesional steroid is ofcourse one treatment for it. But you can definately try tip toe exercises for it , contrast therapy in form of alternative hot n cold foamentation , a course of antiinflammatory drugs , and footwear heel inserts. One of the factors for this to occur is alos diabetes and weight . So if she has this she can try and keep this under control.u can also try IFT at a physiotherapist for this it definately helps. It takes a bit time for this to settle. Injections of steroids and PRP remains always a treatment if all this conservative measures fail.

Hello Practo User,
She is suffering from inflammation of her heel tissue.( Plantar fascitis).
The cause is continuous pressure on the heels during the day..which causes severe pain early in the morning when she puts her foot down for first time.
Calcaneal spur is an x-ray finding.. nothing to do with pain now... neither it will go away with injection or surgery,so don't bother too much with xray findings.
Try a few things:
Soft footwear (Rubber slippers) indoor and outdoor.
Avoid standing for long time.
Avoid climbing stairs.
Elevate the leg over a pillow.
Avoid local application.
Pain medication if really needed.
And have a lot of patience and sincerely follow the precautions....she will be alright.
Regards.
