Infection is the cause of fever. A culture and sensitivity report of blood as well as IV cath or pus if present should be carried out to know the offending bacteria and the antibiotics which it will respond to.

If the Doctor says that the fever is because of IV channel, and your child wants to go home, it is the best situation where the ultimate aim of the Doctor and the patient is the same. He should be discharged.
