Broken tibia&fibula
Hi doc it has been a month since my surgery and a rod has been placed in the tibia my doctor has said that as per the latest x ray there has not been a lot of callus formation howver has asked me to start weight bearing as per my comfort after 2 weeks please advice if it would be better to buy a walker boot before i start bearing weight

Hello there,,,,well you need to undergo specific rehabilation protocol for tibial fracture from a trained musculoskeletal physio....dont worry much about callus formation it will happen eventually,,,however strengthning the muscles of the hip and lower limb needs to be paid attention as they will help in weight bearing,,,if possible you can try partial weight bearing with the help of walker however it needs to be demonstrated properly to you.
Next Steps
sitting for prolonged periods of time on cot with legs hanging...then try n touch your affected legs feet to ground,,in sitting position try n put some preassure on feet as n how is tolerated by you.(in sitting position)
Health Tips
Ask your doctor for any suppliments regarding accelerating bone unions ( no proven results however) along with calcium.
