Breastfeeding Mom
Hi, I'm a breastfeeding mom to my 4 month old baby. I delivered my baby on 1st March and have got back my periods on 30th May already. I want to know what contraceptive pill can I use for emergency which will not affect my baby please? Will ipill work?

You are not a candidate for emergency contraception. Emergency contraception is meant for those women who have sexual intercourse very occasionally and that too they can't anticipate. You may be having sexual intimacy very frequently. So you should get a Copper T fitted. It is safe and effective and doesn't interfere with breastfeeding.

Lactational amenorrhea can be a contraception but you have resumed your cycles and hence the need for a barrier or hormonal contraception has to be considered. Hormonal pills can affect the baby during lactation . Intra uterine devices can also be considered

Better to use a regular post partum contraceptive. I pill has high failure rates and causes irregular periods.

Better to use contraceptive daily pill that are safe during breastfeeding. Pill has many side effects and high failure rate.
