Hello, My hubby gets blood in his phlegm every time h coughs and spits it from around two to three days. Just wanted to know if this is really serious and treated immediately or can we wait for 1.5 months because h is out of india and will be returning in June. Plz help and do let me know the specialist for the same.

Blood in phlegm (hemoptysis) for the past few days should not be ignored. While it could be due to throat irritation or infection, serious causes like tuberculosis, bronchitis, or other lung issues must be ruled out.
Since this is recurring, I recommend he sees a Pulmonologist (lung specialist) abroad for a basic check-up â like a chest X-ray â to be safe.
Waiting for 1.5 months without evaluation is not advisable.

It could be serious. He should get complete blood pic, With ESR, x-ray chest and sputum for AFB done.
Details needed, is there any fever night sweats, loss of appetite? Is he exposed to dust or smoke fumes, etc Flo lo g hours? Does he smoke?
