Hi, my mom got a fever on 4th Sep and was diagnosed with typhoid on 14th Sep. She was given injections and minimal medicines, as she doesn’t like taking too many pills. After a week with no improvement, we switched doctors, and her new medication included Faronem CV for 10 days, Meftal Forte for fever, and BP medicines.
Her blood culture report has come in now. I wanted to understand how long it might take for her to fully recover, as it’s already been a month.

Based on your mother's condition, it appears that she has been experiencing ongoing issues since her initial diagnosis of typhoid. The new medications, including Faronem CV and Metfal Forte, are essential for managing her symptoms and improving her health.
Recovery time can vary significantly based on the individual's overall health, the severity of the infection, and the response to treatment. Typically, patients may start feeling better within a week of effective treatment, but complete recovery might take longer, especially for older adults.
It's important to closely monitor her symptoms and follow up with her healthcare provider. If there is no improvement or if her symptoms worsen, further evaluation may be necessary to adjust her treatment plan.

Yes,
Sometimes typhoid fever takes time to recover especially if inadequately treated.
After initial treatment with antibiotics according to susceptibility for 10-14 days, ampicillin or ciprofloxacin has to be given for 21 days to completely remove the bacteria from gall bladder etc.
