The lining in the nose is very delicate and easily damaged. definitely you should not use fingers or cloth or any other substances to clean the nose. The best way to clean the nose is to use either saline drops or regular sinus rinsing (Jala Neti) and to gently blow the excess secretions out. if you are having issues with sense of smell, it would need to be assessed to determine the cause. Nose picking is the commonest cause for nose bleeds.
There is a chance u might be having a sinus infection ... As sometimes due to infection the nasal mucosa can become fragile and bleeding can occur on blowing or cleaning nose ... Kindly consult an ent specialist for proper medication and evaluation
