Hello,
My son is prescribed with Iron syrup 10 days back as he was diagnosed with iron deficiency.
After 10 days of taking this syrup, We have noticed today that his teeth color is with some black strains.
Is this really expected ? Can you please suggest what is the treatment to clear all these strains or how to avoid more strains getting added in teeth ?
Regards
Jegan

It is possible to have stains due to iron. Nothing to worry about. General hygiene steps like flushing the mouth with water after taking the syrup and brushing twice will help.

Iron syrups do cause blackish staining of teeth. It can be removed by cleaning of teeth but will form again as the child continues to take iron syrup. If he is deficient in iron you can continue to give the syrup and get his teeth cleaned regularly
