Dark coloured lines on nails are fairly common. It's most benign and extremely rare cases turn into malignancy. Closely follow the lines and if there's sudden change in size or rapid expansion or sudden change in colour contact a dermatologist immediately.
**Dear Patient,**
Thank you for sharing your concerns. Let me address both issues you mentioned:
1. Pink Skin on Elbow (Post-Injury):
- It’s common for healed skin to remain slightly discolored (pink or lighter) for months, especially in areas with frequent movement like elbows.
- Ensure the area is moisturized and protected from sun exposure to aid normalization. If the skin feels raised, itchy, or shows delayed healing, a dermatologist should evaluate it.
2. Black Lines on Nail (Longitudinal Melanonychia):
- These lines are usually benign, caused by minor trauma, nail matrix pigmentation, or nutritional factors.
- Rarely, they may indicate underlying conditions. Monitor for:
- Sudden darkening or widening of the lines.
- Irregular borders or pigment spreading to surrounding skin.
- Nail deformity or pain.
Next Steps:
- No urgent action is needed if the lines are stable and unchanged.
- For peace of mind, a clinical examination (ideally with a dermatoscope) can rule out atypical causes.

While these changes are likely harmless, a physical evaluation would provide clarity. You’re welcome to connect with me for a detailed assessment. Feel free to reach out on WhatsApp at **Eight Zero Zero Nine Eight Two One Three Three Two** to discuss further or schedule an appointment.
