Bipolar disorder
Hi , I am 27 years old female. I have been diagnosed with bipolar 2 . I am educating myself more on this cuz it was there since long but has been diagnosed in my 27th year. I need to know that medication in bipolar is a life time thing or it can be managed with proper lifestyle and exercise. Cuz I will have a family of my own tomorrow and I don't want this illness to be there in my future generation or affect my family cuz of it in any sense . Thank you for your response :) stay well :)

Although lifestyle modifications are good, they may not help you if you are a bipolar patient. Bipolar disorder is a Psychiatric disorder and usually requires a patient to take medicatios for pretty long time. Don't a patient with young hypertension or diabetes needs to take medications for long-term?

Hi. Since it’s recently diagnosed, you may have to take the medication for at least some months (discuss with the Psychiatrist). Later on a trial of drug tapering can be attempted or maintain on a single medication depending on the comorbidities and severity.
