Bipolar and Alcohol
I have a diagnosed rapid-cycling bipolar-1 disorder and I have to take 800mg of Lithium Carbonate, 500mg of Sodium Valproate, 50mg of Quetiapine and 1mg of Clonazepam everyday and I was wondering whether having an occasional drink with colleagues and friends, within reason, of course, would be imprudent in my case, as my psychiatrist says. Any thoughts would be appreciated

As your psychiatrist points out it would be imprudent...Your already on 1mg of clonazepam which worsens effect on alcohol. Alcohol reacts with the other medicines you take and reduce their efficacy It can lead to relapse of bipolar as well Due to the above mentioned reasons it is better to avoid it completely at the moment
