Bat touch at night
A bat came to my house at night which stuck to my body for 2 seconds. I removed the bat and saw the clean body. There is no scratch or cut anywhere. Do I need to take rabies injection? am feeling very scared please reply .I went to the government hospital near me, the doctor there did not give me an injection and said that nothing would happen.

You don’t have to worry if there’s no skin breach or bleeding and the Mucosa is not affected and you did not come in contact with the Bats saliva or secretions - also the bats that we have in India are mostly Fruit bats and not the vampire bats that suck Blood You should Wash the area thoroughly with soap and water for 15 minutes as the Rabies virus is a capsulated virus which dies after exposure to it - Apply antiseptic like povidone-iodine. Irrespective of this incident you can get a Pre Exposure prophylaxis Rabies vaccination (0 and 7 days schedule) which will help you prevent rabies in future Consult me by sending a Photograph or call me if you still feel anxious about this incident Always happy to help
