Bad breath, as rightly adviced, can be due to various reasons.
Coated tongue, unclean cheeks, gum disease, deep cavity or even certain medical conditions also cause it.
Keep the tongue clean as suggested with a soft bristle toothbrush and gargle with a chlorhexidine based mouthwash.
Also unconventionally chewing on a gum will help, but try using a sugar free one.
Hope this helps or else visit a Dentist for a more thorough evaluation and understanding.
You should visit your dentist for a through oral prophylaxis I.e. complete cleaning of your mouth. You may try cleaning your tongue with your brush after brushing as an adjuvant to your tongue cleaner. Aggressive use of tongue cleaner may lead to abrasion over the tongue. You may also try some mouth wash as an adjuvant to control bad breath.
