Baby not sitting independently
Hello, My baby girl was born on 37th week via c section. She is 7.5 months old (corrected age: 6 months 3 weeks). Her birth weight was 2.7 kg and current weight is 7 kg. She still can't sit independently but can crawl and move forward. She can sit in a tripod position though. Her other milestones are being met. Also, she isn't much interested in eating solids and mostly wants to feed (she is on mothers feed). My questions : 1. is it normal for babies to not sit independently at this age? Or should we be visiting a development pediatrician? 2. How many meals should be given to the baby right now and how to make her interested in solids? Thank you.

To my understanding from the question, the baby is born at 36 weeks completed age (late preterm) and hence corrected age was used At this age We expect the baby to sit in tripod position, able to grasp objects and bring to mouth, try to push forward and crawl when their soles are supported. Your baby is able to do all these milestones and need not worry Regarding food Weaning is recommended after 6 completed months of age. You can start with 1 meal per day and then gradually increase to 2-3 meals per day and each time baby should be able to take 2-3 tablespoons of food in puree consistency. Babies take some time to adjust to new foods and keep trying consistently. Start with home based foods, fruit and vegetable purees which are easy to accept

It's normal. Nothing to worry. Just wait for sometime. Trying giving atleast 2-3 meals a day in start. Start with giving semisolid food and then gradually can move to solid food.

The weight gain and milestones achieved are very reassuring. She is on track Regarding meals - the baby has to learn to swallow the semisolid food. It takes time and patience. Enjoy the process. Keep trying Start with once a day of semisolids and gradually go to twice a day over this month. The process is important to increase her calorie intake. Interest generation: offer a variety of foods - khitchri, sooji or rice kheer (as per cultural norms. Try mashed fruits - banana with milk like a shake, mashed mango/ melon/ apple etc. should be done one new form of food per week, in a form slightly thicker than milk so that the baby will swallow. Remember they spit often - they don’t know how to swallow solid food still. It doesn’t mean they don’t like that food
