My son 16 months old fell from bed yesterday, after fall he cried and tried to vomit but didn't vomit.
After a few minutes he stopped crying and behaved normally.i observed him for 2-3 hours before he slept.
Today I consulted my babys doctor,he checked him and found some soft swelling on back of head.
He adviced me to use ice pack and told me that he is normal and nothing to worry.but after searching on internet,I found that soft swelling is a serious concern.many doctors have mentioned that soft swelling is serious.
Now I am in confused, what should I do.
It's been 28 hours and my baby is behaving normally but swelling is there.
What should I do?
Should I go for any scan or MRI?
Or should I wait and let it heal itself.
My baby is active and playing, but while sleeping he gets uncomfortable because of swelling in head.
Only a minor portion on back right side of head is swelled, just behind his right ear.
He has long hair,so swelling is not visible but by touching I can feel it.

Hi I can fully understand your worry.
Not all babies who have fall in head require MRI and CT SCAN
if baby has no loss of consciousness
No vomiting
Behaving normal
No blood/water discharge from nose or ear
DONT WORRY

Pls don't be panic after doing google.
Fall from bed is common issue and generally don't cause serious injury.
Nothing to worry.
Give drop pcm as per dose for pain reliever
Next Steps
if any danger sign like swelling increase in size , vomiting, seizures then do ct head.
Swelling on head could be just a soft tissue injury . If the baby is behaving normally, just relax .
Next Steps
Watch out for danger signs like vomiting, drowsiness, abnormal behaviour.
Health Tips
If danger signs present , do MRI and consult doctor. Be careful next time

YESNO
Your baby doctor gave good advice... Its just external injury nothing internal... As your baby is playing well.. Conscious.. Moving both handa and legs and no vomiting... Means brain is not damaged at all.. It's just external surface...
