Hello , My 9 month was recently having red itchy rashes on face neck Scalp hip and bums , was trying desowen after consulting pediatrician and dermatologist.. Once I stopped it was reappearing with more severity. Seeing many ppl speak about homeopathy.. consulted homeopath and he said to avoid diaper completely. As per his suggestion I started using cloth diaper now .. also he prescribed ars alb 30 6 globules 3 times daily for 15 days.
My question is - is it safe to use it for a 9 month old ??
Also I started this medicine already and it smells kindof pungent ... is it the smell of ars alb?? Please answer to this question..

Hello
Based on your description, your child may be experiencing atopic dermatitis or seborrheic dermatitis, which often flares with triggers like heat, allergens, or irritants.
While homeopathy is commonly used by some parents, arsenicum album (ars alb) 30 is not scientifically proven to be safe or effective in infants, especially at 9 months. Its pungent smell might vary depending on the preparation, but that should not be the main concern—safety and efficacy are key.
It’s best to pause this medication and not continue unless specifically advised by a pediatrician who is monitoring your baby.
Next Steps
Continue using cloth diapers and ensure frequent changing to keep the area dry.
Use fragrance-free emollients to maintain skin hydration.
If the rashes worsen or spread, consult a pediatric dermatologist for a detailed evaluation and allergy testing if needed.
Avoid over-the-counter topical steroids without supervision.
Health Tips
Avoid self-prescribing or long-term use of alternative medications in infants.
Keep the baby’s nails trimmed and clothing light to reduce scratching and irritation.
Watch for signs of infection like pus, fever, or rapid spread of rash.
Homeopathy medicines are not our domain so I will not like to comment on the safety
Efficacy in atopic dermatitis for homeopathy? Not established. Pungent smell maybe because the medicine is alcohol based, alcohol in minimal concentration and not worrisome
There are some basic principles to manage atopic dermatitis-
First establish a diagnosis - at few photographs will be helpful
Use a syndet wash as a soap. Something like Pears body wash which is soap free or dove body wash.
Moisturize the body well after a good bath. Bath water to be only lukewarm. Moisturize immediately so as to lock the moisture in the skin. A simple Vaseline is very good os a good moisturizer ( or a product where they write - good for atopic skin)
Often the baby scratches a rash and bleed points are there. Consider these points as infected - use ointment T bact twice daily for them for a week. In the nappy area there could be secondary fungal infection and it too will need appropriate ointment. You need to show the rash
Once the rash heals just keep moisturizer on frequently and use appropriate body wash
