Asymptotic Gallstone
My mother in her late 50s have been diagnosed with gallstone of size 1.8cm. However the sergoun ruled out surgery as it is asymptomatic and recommended periodic checkup. She is non diabetic and all other reports such as blood report, ecg, chest xray etc appeared normal however she had a history of HCV which the report now shows negative after medications. Is there any risk involved if gallstone is asymptomatic and left unoperated?

There is calculated risk in keeping the stones in Gall bladder. You should understand that stone can form only in diseased Gall bladder. There may not be any problem, but there is not much reasoning in keeping the diseased Gall bladder inside. Moreover Gall stone diseases have certain complications, but there is no means to predict it and it’s time. Hence, it’s better to remove it than to take risk.
