My 5.5 years old son has been diagnosed with astigmatism and has cylindrical power of 2.75 and 3.Also I have come to know that his cornea is weak.with that he has amblyopia bilaterally but I never felt that he could have such vision issues as his attention to detail is superb.he makes puzzles, lego blocks, excellent in drawing.does not have squint eyes.He sees like any other normal person.
Even after correction his vision is 6/9.
How can we make sure that his vision is improved.

The activities you have mentioned are a part of near vision, where the childs ability to use his very powerful muscles is a blessing. But this will eventually lead to getting tired soon and poor vision later. Amblyopia diagnosed at correct age can be managed. Astigmatism can be genetic thing.
To manage this situation
- Regular use of prescribed glasses always
- make sure the child looks through the glasses
- keep a check on device use
- it is advised for a child who has myopia to play outside in the sun.
- Every 3 month follow up with a pediatric ophthalmologist
Next Steps
Review and get a full clinical evaluation on child eye health with scans (if required)
Health Tips
donot rub eyes
looks for redness and infection in eyes
