Ashwagandha tablets
Hello doc. My dad is on certain medications for hypertension,diabetes,and unstable angina. Is it safe to take this ashwagandha tablets for these patients?? Or whether it should be avoided?

Firstly, you need to ensure that he is consuming Ashwagandha root extract only, the leaves and other parts are known to be toxic to the liver. Even the root extract can be used for a duration of a month or 2 max, then a break of 3-4 months is needed.

i have Conducted a randomised controlled trial with Ashwagandha root extracts. Hence, i know more than a little about it.

ashwagandha has no indication for use for hypertension, diabetes and IHD. so, in short it is of no use to him, rather risk of liver damage exists.
