Working on just gut issues like diarrhoea or constipation will only provide temporary relief. From whatever you have described , it looks like anxiety is quite significant and needs to be treated. It is better if you consult a psychiatrist atleast once. You can go to anyone you know or you can consult me directly

“I understand your concern. Anxiety and overthinking can have a significant impact on the digestive system through the gut-brain connection. Alternating constipation and loose motions, especially over several years, may be suggestive of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), a common condition that is often aggravated by stress and anxiety. However, since these symptoms have been present for 2–3 years, I would advise a proper medical evaluation to rule out other gastrointestinal conditions. Along with this, addressing the underlying anxiety through stress-management techniques, regular exercise, adequate sleep, and, if needed, consultation with a mental health professional can be very helpful. Wishing him good health and a speedy recovery. Feel free to consult me for a detailed assessment and personalized guidance.” — Dr. Yash Duragkar, MD (Internal Medicine) Consultant Physician & Diabetologist
