Anti rabies injection.
My daughter who is 8 years old I got a scratch thru a monkey. She has got the first dose of anti rabies injection done. However the first injection has been put on her butt. Is it the correct part., I seen some of the articles where its been written that the injection has to be put on the arm or on the thigh. Kindly help and clarify on whether the first injection tat has been put has it gone waste. Maheish..

Yes Rabies vaccine should not be administered in the gluteal region because it may not produce enough antibodies given from that area. For children any injection or vaccination it's better to administer in the anterolateral thigh region because the risk of foot drop is more with gluteal region administration. You can repeat the Rabies vaccine once and take it as 0 dose.
