I'm 26 M and received the complete Hepatitis B vaccine series as an infant. A recent blood test showed my anti-HBs titer (HBsAb) dropped below the protective threshold (

As you completed your HepB vaccine course as an infant. You have to Take one booster dose and then retest after 1-2 months. If it is still below 10 then you have to finish the second full series of vaccination. Stay healthy,be positive.

Doesn't mean you  lost protection; please book a consultation with me to review your report and risk factors and determine whether a booster or further testing is needed.

You need to take booster dose since you threshold level is low

A low anti-HBs titre years after vaccination does not necessarily mean you have lost immunity, as immune memory may persist. If you are a healthcare worker or immunocompromised, a booster or further testing may be needed. Please share your exact anti-HBs level and HBsAg status for appropriate guidance.

Hello, Your concern is understandable. An anti-HBs level below 10 mIU/mL many years after completing hepatitis B vaccination does not necessarily mean you have lost immunity. In healthy individuals, antibody levels naturally decline over time, but immune memory can persist for decades. If you completed the full vaccine series during infancy and have a normal immune system, routine booster doses or repeat antibody testing are generally not required. One booster dose often triggers an immune memory response. However, whether further testing is necessary depends on your occupation, immune status, and risk of hepatitis B exposure.
Next Steps
1. If you are a healthy adult without occupational exposure risks: No additional booster doses or routine antibody testing are generally necessary. 2. If you are a healthcare worker or at increased occupational risk: Repeat anti-HBs testing 1–2 months after the booster. 3. If anti-HBs remains below 10 mIU/mL, additional vaccine doses may be recommended according to the revaccination protocol. 4. If you have immunodeficiency, are receiving dialysis, or take immunosuppressive medication, an individualised vaccination and monitoring plan may be necessary.
Health Tips
My recommendation: If you are otherwise healthy and have completed your childhood hepatitis B vaccination series, low antibody levels alone do not mean you need another complete vaccination series. If you work in healthcare or have frequent exposure to blood or body fluids, checking anti-HBs 1–2 months after your recent booster is appropriate. A level ≥10 mIU/mL confirms an adequate response. Keep your vaccination records available and avoid taking additional doses unnecessarily without medical guidance. Wishing you good health!

For someone who completed the full childhood Hepatitis B series, a single booster dose after a low anti-HBs titer is usually considered enough for most healthy adults, and most guidelines don't call for routine retesting afterward unless there's an ongoing exposure risk.
Next Steps
If you don't fall into a high-risk group, your doctor's advice to stop here fits standard practice. If you do have extra exposure, mention that specifically and ask whether a repeat titer check makes sense for you.
Health Tips
If you work in healthcare, are on dialysis, or have a condition affecting immunity, please consult your physician about this, since it can change whether retesting is useful.
