Hello,
Severe throat pain accompanied by mild fever and body aches for two days may be caused by viral pharyngitis, tonsillitis, or a bacterial throat infection, including Group A Streptococcus.
Most acute sore throats are viral and do not require antibiotics.
Switch CV 325 contains amoxicillin and clavulanic acid, while Crocin contains paracetamol for pain and fever relief.
Antibiotics should only be used when a bacterial infection is suspected or confirmed. Severe throat pain alone does not establish the need for antibiotics.
Next Steps
Consult a general physician, because your throat pain is severe. If Switch CV was prescribed by a doctor, follow the prescribed course after confirming the indication. If self-started, contact a physician before taking further doses. A throat examination and, if indicated, a rapid streptococcal antigen test may help determine whether antibiotics are necessary. Crocin may be used for pain or fever according to the recommended dosage, provided there are no contraindications. Gargle with warm salt water, maintain hydration, and consume soft foods.
Health Tips
Avoid smoking, very spicy foods, and excessively hot beverages until symptoms improve. Seek medical attention if you develop difficulty breathing, inability to swallow liquids or saliva, drooling, significant one-sided throat swelling, a muffled voice, or difficulty opening your mouth. My recommendation: Have your throat examined before deciding whether to continue Switch CV. Amoxicillin-clavulanate is not routinely the first-choice antibiotic for uncomplicated streptococcal pharyngitis. Most sore throats improve within a week with appropriate care. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
