I used to be in this situation because of reasons below.
Possible explanations:
You might take a caffeine or a kind of stimulant that wakes you up. A tea for example is enough to not let you fall asleep.
You might eat a dinner rich in carbohydrate. In summary it will give you energy that wonât help you fall asleep.
Too long naps during the day. You take them because of a bad night and they disable to sleep well.
You do sport activities too late.
You use your phone, computer too late. The blue light from those devices are signs to produce less melatonin, the chemical that makes you feel sleepy.
You take too many stimulant and they disable you to sleep well.
You might be too stressed because of your long day.
What you can do
Stop napping.
Find something that will help you unwind.
Exhaust yourself with physical activities.
Sleep everyday at the same time. This one is tough, but you need to be disciplined because if you werenât that disturbed, you wonât post this question on quora.
Light dinner.
No stimulant.
No blue light.
Relax, in bed while waiting to fall asleep donât worry too much about when you are going to sleep and for how much, just relax.
