What needs to be done to reduce swelling after wisdom tooth extraction? What are the best foods that can be eaten?

Hello Apply ice pack from outside it will reduce the swelling... Avoid eating  and drinking hot food, be on soft diet for atleast a week. Do warm saline rinse 4 to 5 times a day

Apply ice packs, take medication properly, keep the surgical area clean , try to keep it clean by rinsing with   water after 1 day. And try that food doesn't get accumulated around the site of surgery.

Repeatedly apply ice pack extraorally over the swelling. Keeping in mind tht you do not catch cold at the same time. For first 48 hours soft or liquid diet.do not use the affected side while chewing. Do brush teeth with tooth brush and paste without disturbing the extraction site.

It must be a surgical procedure which led to swelling after the extraction. Don't worry , it's completely normal but it will take time to subside. Till then... Take rest Avoid spicy or hard food. Take soft diet. Don't apply any cloths / other means over the affected area. Keep your mouth clean and after one day of surgery,  you can go for warm saline rinses 2 times a day. Betadine rinses may also help.

After 1 week , go to your dentist for examination of the extraction socket.

Continue your medications as prescribed by your dentist. Apply ice from outside. Consume plain ice cream. Avoid hot and spicy food. Do not sleep on the side of surgery. Do not tie scarf/muffler over the swollen area.

Hello dear, Please be calm See swelling is a normal phenomenon after wisdom tooth extraction I suggest you to apply ice extraorally thrice a day for 3-5 days Follow your dentist prescription and complete the course Apply warm saline rinses 6 hourly a day for 5 days

Apply cold ice packs from outside every 2 hours.Eat ice cream from the side of the surgery.Have the medicines regularly as prescibed by your Dentist.Eat soft/semi solid food from the opposite side.After 2 days of the surgery,gargle with lukewarm water with salt in it.

Wisdom teeth extraction may cause swelling in that case following measures should be taken - 1.Do not spit or rinse the mouth for 24hrs . 2.Take the medication as directed by the doctor. 3.Eat soft foods from apposite side of the mouth. 4.Eat cold foods frequently. 5.Apply ice pack EXTRAORALLY. 6.Don't use straw . 7.Rinse your mouth with lukewarm salt water after every meals to maintain oral hygiene after 24hrs. 8.Visit the clinic to remove sutures after 7-8 days as advised by the doctor.

Hi, Immediately after extraction you can put some ice externally over the face to reduce the swelling.Please remember ice is to be used only during the initial couple of hours After removal of the gauze you can have something cold like an ice cream.However it is important not to drink anything with a straw or rinse your mouth vigorously for some .time. From the second day onwards rinse your mouth gently with warm water many times a day.

Initially after the procedure eat liquid ,semisolid ,non spicy food .Food should not be hot.

Dear Patient After wisdom tooth removal swelling is not unusual. Avoid eating hard foods, have soft diet , avoid spicy food. To reduce swelling take your Dentist's prescription properly. Take warm salt water rinses to cleanse the surgical site.  Swelling will decrease over time. Dr Divya
