Rootcanal treatment is a safe procedure with no side effects. Usually a dentist suggests Rootcanal treatment for a tooth that has a decay affecting the core of the tooth and which cannot be cured using just normal fillings. If a direct filling is given for such deeply decayed tooth, that could lead to complications such as swelling and pain in the region.
Therefore if the tooth has to be retained in place, a Rootcanal treatment has to be done, else extraction of the tooth is the other better plan rather than doing fillings.
Many people talk about failure of rootcanal treatment based on their experience and the core reason of which is unaware to us or even the people themselves. Mostly after a rootcanal treatment a crown or a cap has to be given on the tooth like a helmet, otherwise the tooth may fracture as a result. This is because after rootcanal treatment, the tooth becomes dead or non vital. So if we fail to follow the protocols after the root treatment, we may not achieve the best result.
