Root canal issue

2017-02-22 15:42:48
My mother aged 55 got root canal done / The procure was half completed & later doctor filled the cavity (vain) with medicine & closed it with temp cement & called us after 1 week / In between the temp cement came out in pices- Now we are worried that the medicine in the canal will come out & bacteria will enter the newly cleaned vain. Doctor has not given us any antibiotics as well - Just given a Tan-x to rub on Gums

ANTIBIOTICS are not needed in each case of root canal treatment. Temporary filling should be replaced by permanent filling now. visit your dentist, he will do the needful.

Ideally if a tooth recieves an intentional rct , it can be finished in a single sitting. In case the tooth has some infection or pain, the rct may take 2 to 3 sittings to be finished. 1 week of waiting time between the sittings is not advisable per se but it varies with cases. I would suggest you to see an endodontist (root canal specialist) in case you have any doubts.
Next Steps
go and consult an endodontist.
