Chest pain accompanied by breathlessness, difficulty breathing, or a feeling of suffocation requires an immediate, in-person medical evaluation to rule out serious cardiac or pulmonary conditions. Immediate Steps to Take Seek Emergency Medical Attention: Go to the nearest emergency room or call local emergency services immediately if the symptoms are severe, sudden, or worsening. Avoid Self-Diagnosis: While symptoms like right-sided pain or soreness can sometimes stem from musculoskeletal strain or anxiety, combining them with shortness of breath makes visual and diagnostic assessment (such as an ECG, chest X-ray, or blood work) critical. Red Flag Symptoms Get emergency care immediately if you or the person experiencing this notices any of the following: Pain radiating to the jaw, neck, back, shoulder, or arm Unexplained sweating, dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting Palpitations or a rapid, irregular heartbeat Severe difficulty catching your breath, bluish lips, or sudden pale skin

Chest pain associated with breathlessness/suffocation should not be assumed to be muscular or anxiety-related without examination. Please get an in-person assessment, especially if the pain is ongoing, severe, worsening, or associated with sweating, dizziness, fainting or palpitations. An ECG and other tests may be required depending on examination. You may consult me on Practo for a detailed assessment and guidance.
