The ECG appears to be normal.Shortness of breathing could be due to respiratory issues, heart related issues, anxiety and obesity. If it's triggered in winter you may go for a chest x-ray and pulmonary function tests to see if it is reactive airway disorders

Your symptoms of mild shortness of breath with fast, shallow breathing for the past few days can definitely be related to acid reflux and winter pollution, especially since you had a similar episode two years ago during winter. Cold air and pollution irritate the airways, causing a feeling of tightness or difficulty taking a full breath. Acid reflux can also cause a “breathless” or “air hunger” sensation by irritating the chest and throat. The fact that your EKG is normal is reassuring and makes serious heart-related causes very unlikely.
Next Steps
Try to avoid cold air exposure, use a mask when going outside, drink warm water, and avoid spicy or heavy meals 2–3 hours before sleeping. Elevate your head while sleeping and take your reflux medication regularly if prescribed. Practise slow breathing—inhale deeply for 4 seconds, exhale slowly for 6 seconds—for 10 minutes, which often reduces this “shallow breathing” feeling. If symptoms persist, you may consider getting a simple chest X-ray and spirometry to rule out airway irritation or mild asthma-like changes triggered by pollution.
Health Tips
If you develop worsening breathlessness, chest pain, dizziness, blue lips, or severe cough, you should seek medical attention immediately. Otherwise, your symptoms are most likely due to airway sensitivity + reflux + winter pollution, and these are manageable with supportive care. You can update me anytime with your reports or if your symptoms change.

Your ECG is normal. Your shortness of breath is most likely due to pollution-related airway irritation + reflux + mild hyperventilation pattern, not a cardiac problem. ECG Interpretation (from the image) Your ECG appears to show: • Normal sinus rhythm • Normal axis • Normal PR, QRS, QT intervals • No ST-segment changes • No T-wave inversion • No signs of ischemia, arrhythmia, myocarditis, or pericarditis Overall: ECG is normal. This is reassuring and rules out most dangerous cardiac causes of shortness of breath. Most Likely Diagnosis: Non-cardiac SOB Considering: • Symptoms for 3–4 days • Normal ECG • Shallow, fast breathing pattern • Worse with stress or when you focus on breathing • History of similar winter episodes • Pollution exposure • Reflux history Your picture strongly suggests a combination of: 1. Airway irritation due to winter pollution Common in cold months due to: • PM2.5 / smog • Cold, dry air • Upper airway hypersensitivity This causes: • Mild bronchospasm • Air hunger sensation • Need to “take deep breaths” • Occasional chest tightness without wheeze or abnormal ECG 2. GERD-induced dyspnea Acid reflux can produce: • Chest tightness • Throat irritation • Shallow breathing Especially at night or after meals. 3. Anxiety / hyperventilation component Many patients with heightened respiratory awareness develop: • Shallow rapid breathing • Chest tightness • Inability to take a “satisfying breath” The fact that you had the same symptoms two years ago in winter is highly suggestive of seasonal airway sensitivity + anxiety overlay.
Next Steps
What it does not look like: • Heart attack • Heart failure • Arrhythmia • Pulmonary embolism • Pneumonia Your symptoms and ECG do not support these. Management Plan 1. For Airway Irritation (Pollution + Cold Air) You can start: • Levocetirizine or Fexofenadine once daily • Montelukast 10 mg at night (if symptoms persist) • Steam inhalation 1–2 times daily • Nasal saline rinse if postnasal drip If breathlessness is episodic: • Levosalbutamol inhaler 1–2 puffs SOS (only if you have previous prescription) 2. For Reflux • PPI (Pantoprazole 40 mg) 30 mins before breakfast • Avoid tea/coffee, late meals, lying down immediately 3. Breathing Technique (reduces shallow-breath pattern) • Slow inhalation 3 seconds • Slow exhalation 4–5 seconds • Repeat for 2–3 minutes This resets the respiratory drive. 4. Reduce Pollution Exposure • N95 mask outdoors • Avoid morning and late-night cold air • Indoor air purifier if available
Health Tips
You need medical review if: • SOB worsens • You develop wheeze • Chest pain • Fever • SpO₂ < 95% • Symptoms persist beyond 1–2 weeks

Yes — pollution + reflux + anxiety + cold weather can all cause mild shortness of breath (SOB) exactly the way you are describing. ✔️ Why your symptoms make sense Winter pollution / smog Causes airway irritation → fast, shallow breathing Very common in North India winters Many people get the exact same recurring pattern each year Acid reflux (GERD) Acid can irritate the esophagus → body feels “air hunger” Can mimic cardiac or asthma-type breathing Anxiety + monitoring your breathing Makes breathing more shallow SOB at rest is often linked with anxiety or reflux, not lungs/heart Normal EKG today → very reassuring Heart cause becomes very unlikely ✔️ When SOB is usually not dangerous If you can walk and talk If oxygen saturation is normal If symptoms fluctuate If EKG is normal If symptoms get worse in pollution / better indoors Your description fits this pattern very well. ✔️ What you can do now (simple steps) Stay indoors during peak pollution hours Wear N95 mask when outside Use a humidifier or steam inhalation For reflux: Avoid late-night meals Reduce tea/coffee/spicy foods Consider antacid (pantoprazole or similar, if doctor has prescribed before) ⚠️ When to get checked urgently Chest pain SOB increasing rapidly Oxygen < 94% Dizziness or fainting Swelling in legs ✔️ If you tell me: Your SpO₂ reading Your exact BP today Any wheezing / cough

Ecg is normal. These symptoms are most likely due to allergy to cold air or any pollutant or something related to winter season in your environment.

What you’re describing looks like mild shortness of breath, but the pattern you mentioned gives strong clues: Fast, shallow breaths at rest + normal EKG This often points toward functional breathing, anxiety-driven hyperventilation, or temporary airway irritation rather than a heart problem. If the EKG done today is normal, a cardiac cause becomes much less likely. Pollution + winter months Yes, this is a very common trigger. Poor air quality can irritate the airways and cause a sensation of breathlessness even without asthma. Reflux (acidity) can worsen SOB Acid reflux can irritate the airway and diaphragm, leading to a tight chest or fast breathing sensation. Same symptoms 2 years ago The recurrence during similar weather conditions again supports an airway/reactive component not something dangerous or progressive. What needs to be checked next To pinpoint the exact cause, I need to know: the EKG report clearly any chest pain / wheezing / cough smoking or vaping history anxiety/stress pattern if symptoms worsen when lying down exposure to dust, cold air, perfumes, or pollution reflux severity and timing These details completely change the diagnosis, which is why I cannot recommend any specific treatment in an open forum without assessing your case properly. If you want a clear, step-by-step plan to fix this whether it’s reflux, reactive airway, anxiety-related breathing, or pollution-triggered irritation connect with me on whatsapp at Nine Three Two Six Zero Two Zero Five Three Six for a private consultation Once I review your EKG and symptoms in detail, I’ll guide you on exactly what to do so this settles quickly.
