Middle Back Pain

2025-01-24 14:59:23
Dear Doctor, My father  is 78 years old and is experiencing back pain, mostly when he is walking or standing. Sometimes, the pain is very severe, making it difficult for him to walk because of the strain it causes in his middle back. I have attached for your reference.

As he is 78 years old, causes of the back back pain could be due to muscular, osteoporosis, etc.Take him to a orthopedist for a clinical examination and appropriate investigations including spine xray initially and treatment.

Thank you for sharing your concern. Based on the information provided, your father's severe middle back pain, particularly during walking or standing, could be due to several possible causes such as muscular strain, vertebral issues (e.g., compression fractures, osteoporosis), or spinal conditions like spondylosis or spinal stenosis. To guide you better, I would need more details regarding his medical history, recent trauma (if any), and other symptoms like numbness, weakness, or radiating pain. An X-ray or MRI of the spine may be required to diagnose the underlying issue accurately. For now, you may consider: 1. Using a lumbar support belt if prescribed by a doctor. 2. Ensuring adequate calcium and vitamin D levels. 3. Avoiding prolonged standing or walking without support. 4. Applying hot or cold compresses for temporary pain relief. Please consult me directly for a comprehensive evaluation and appropriate treatment plan. You can contact me on WhatsApp at eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two for further assistance.
