It is unfortunate that you have lost your sense of taste post wisdom tooth removal. Although rare, Depending on the interaction of your wisdom tooth with your nerve, there is a small risk of nerve damage, which can cause pain or a tingling sensation and numbness in the tongue, lower lip, chin, teeth and gums. This is usually temporary, but can be permanent in some cases.
This may be because of injury /trauma/ compression to the nerve either while extracting the tooth, during healing or else while giving local anaesthesia .
Next Steps
Take Neurobion Forte (1 tablet daily) for atleast a few months. It can help improve nerve function.
