It's great that your uric acid has been well-controlled for 9 months. Febustat 40 is generally safe for long-term use, but tapering is possible in some patients after sustained control — ideally after keeping uric acid below 5 for at least 1-2 years without any attacks. Long-term febuxostat is associated with mild liver enzyme changes in some, so periodic LFT monitoring is advisable.
Next Steps
Discuss tapering with your doctor after reviewing your full history and latest blood tests. Do not stop or reduce on your own. Please consult me directly on Practo for a detailed evaluation.

Your uric acid is under control with febustat.it has to be taken indefinitely, don't stop it abruptly.Discontinuing the medicine should be decided by your physician

✓Your recent 9-month symptom-free period is a sign that the medicine is working, not necessarily that the disease has gone away. ✓Stopping febuxostat may allow uric acid to rise again and gout attacks can return. ✓Discuss any dose reduction with your rheumatologist or physician; do not stop suddenly without monitoring uric acid levels

Febuxostat dies have side effects like allergic reactions, chest pain, shortness of breath etc. However unless severe reaction, it should not be stopped suddenly. As it can cause rebound flare up of gout. If serum uric acid levels are consistently normal and no symptoms,  consult your prescribing physician regarding stopping it.

Do not taper or stop Febuxostat on your own. Please discuss with your treating physician, who can review your gout history, current uric acid levels, kidney function, and overall risk profile before considering any dose adjustment.
Next Steps
Continue Febuxostat as prescribed, monitor serum uric acid periodically, and follow up with your physician before making any changes to the medication.

Febustat is not the first line agent for lowering serum uric acid level in gout due to increased cardiovascular risk. If you don't have any other cardiovascular risk factors like DM/SHTN/Dyslipidemia; you can continue with febuxostat. Or else, you need to stop febuxostat & switch to Allopurinol starting at 100mg & titrating as per serum urate level. Do consult with your treating physician regarding the same.

Hello! Happy to hear that you have achieved a massive milestone due to your very diciplined aproch towards your health, you have kept uric acid under good control. It is completely understandable that you want to stop taking a daily pill. If we stop or taper prematurely it may rebound and may cause stored crystals in your joint to destabilise and trigger a painful , sudden gout attack. For most individuals, febustat is quite safe for long term use.however, when taken for long time it requires routine medical supervision, specifically liver and kidney function, once or twice a year .
Next Steps
Whether your dose can be safely reduced or if you need maintenance therapy depends heavily on your overall kidney health, metabolic profile and daily diet , We should never guess with gout .

Gout is a chronic condition, and your current nine-month flare-free period and target uric acid level below 5 mg/dL mean the medication is working perfectly. Stopping it will cause uric acid levels to rise, risking painful rebound gout attacks and joint damage. Urate-lowering therapy is generally lifelong. Regarding long-term use, Febustat (febuxostat) can carry risks, including liver enzyme elevations, skin rashes, and cardiovascular events. You need routine blood tests to safely monitor your liver and kidney function while staying on it.
Next Steps
Change in medication and doses and proper follow up is to be maintained
