Gall stones of large size are unlikely to respond to stone dissolving tablets.

Gallstones that are 12mm in size are considered relatively large, and in most cases, they may not be suitable for dissolution with medications. While there are medications available to dissolve smaller gallstones made of cholesterol, they may not be effective for larger ones. Lithotripsy, a medical procedure that uses shock waves to break up gallstones, might be an option in some cases. However, it's essential to consult with a healthcare professional, preferably a gastroenterologist or a surgeon, who can evaluate your specific condition and recommend the most appropriate treatment. Surgery, such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy, is the most common and effective treatment for gallstones, particularly when they are large or causing symptoms. Your doctor will guide you on the best course of action based on your individual situation.
