For cholesterol treatment

Hi...I am Sushovan Saha,Age 39.Due to unbalanced Lipid profile Doctor prescribed me Lipikind F Tablet from 02 years ago. With the prescribed dose of the medicine,I continued the medicine. Then my Lipid profile was in range. Before 01 year,I felt pain in my abdomen. By USG I noticed that there was a stone in my left kidney. Then I took homeopathy course to dissolve the stone. And now there's no stone. In the mean time I quited  to take Lipikind F medicine. But I do tested Lipid profile test 2/3 times in last 01 year. And the report was ok. So I want to know that Should I continue Lipikind F Tablet once Again? Is Lipikind F should be intake for the whole life? I want suitable suggestion...???

Do not restart Lipikind-F on your own. Whether you need a statin or fenofibrate depends on your current fasting lipid profile, diabetes/BP status and overall cardiovascular risk; normal reports after stopping are reassuring, but this combination is not automatically lifelong. Share the latest reports and previous prescription with a physician before resuming any tablet. I can review the results and guide the next step in consultation.
Next Steps
Get a fasting lipid profile and review it with your physician before restarting medication. Continue regular exercise, weight control and a low-saturated-fat diet.
Health Tips
Seek review promptly for new muscle pain, marked weakness, dark urine or persistent abdominal pain.

First obtain a current fasting lipid profile before restarting anything, including: * LDL-C * HDL-C * Triglycerides * Total cholesterol * Non-HDL-C * Ideally ApoB and Lp(a) at least once, particularly if the original dyslipidemia was significant or there is a family history of premature cardiovascular disease.

As of My opinion  you should test the Lipid profile and share the report to know   the current status of your Lipid profile .As of now you need not to start Anti Lipid Medicine as previous Lipid profile report was normal... Your concern about how long uses of Medicine.. To minimise the use of the Medicine you have change your lifestyle, food habits etc. 1) Reduce the intake of more oil containing food 2) Reduce/ Red meat consumption ( if non-vegeterian) 3) walk  and light exercise. 4) Reduce rhe Alcohol consumption 5) Regular Blood Sugar Monitoring
Next Steps

*Lipikind F = Atorvastatin 10mg + Fenofibrate 160mg* - Atorvastatin lowers LDL / Total Cholesterol - Fenofibrate lowers mainly Triglycerides This combination is given when Triglycerides are very high + LDL is high. Important points for you: *1. Normal lipid after stopping does NOT always mean cured* Lipids can stay normal for few months after stopping because of diet control, but in most people with true dyslipidemia they will rise again in 6-12 months. That's why you checked 2-3 times in last 1 year and it was OK - that's a good sign. *2. Lifelong or not depends on WHY it was started:* - If you had only borderline high lipids with no diabetes, no BP, no smoking, no family history of heart attack at young age - then it may be stopped with lifestyle + regular monitoring. - If you have diabetes, hypertension, high ASCVD risk, family history of early heart disease, LDL was >190 initially, or Triglycerides >500 - then guidelines recommend long-term statin, often lifelong, with dose adjustment. At 39, we calculate *10-year ASCVD risk* before deciding lifelong. *3. Should you restart now on your own? No.* Do NOT restart Lipikind F just like that without a fresh lipid profile + LFT + KFT + blood sugar. Fenofibrate can increase creatinine and muscle pain in some, so LFT/KFT is needed before restart. What to do now: 1.  *Get these tests* - Fasting Lipid Profile, HbA1c, LFT, KFT, TSH, and share old lipid report (before starting medicine 2 years ago) with your doctor. That old baseline is most important to decide. 2.  *Continue lifestyle strictly* - This is what is keeping your report OK now:     - Low oil, low fried, low sweets, avoid alcohol and smoking     - Daily 30-40 min brisk walk / exercise     - Weight control, plenty of water - important for kidney stone prevention also 3.  *Follow up with your physician* - Take all 2-3 recent lipid reports + old USG reports. Doctor will decide if you need only Atorvastatin alone, only lifestyle, or combination again. *About kidney stone:* Lipikind F does not usually cause kidney stones. Good that stone is now cleared. For prevention, keep hydration >2.5L/day, less salt, less cola. Fenofibrate can raise creatinine slightly, so kidney function should be monitored. Homeopathy does not dissolve kidney stones by evidence - small stones often pass on their own with water. Please keep a USG KUB follow up once.
